The Kinney Residences consist of a main residence and guest house which flank a central courtyard space on a generous lot in South Austin. Visitors are greeted by the single-story guest house which is designed to be a quiet element in the streetscape and to provide a buffer for the interior courtyard. A long driveway and pedestrian path lead to the two-story residence to the rear of the lot. The residence, clad in a hand made brick, fronts the central courtyard with generous outdoor living spaces on both the first and second floor of the house. At the group level, interior living spaces front the pool court and take advantage of their southern exposure to provide daylighting throughout the year. The main residence features two principal suites split between the first and second floor and two additional second floor bedrooms on the second floor.
